The Department of Agricultural Engineering was established on 3rd September, 2016. The main objectives of the Department are teaching, research and extension activities in the field of Agricultural Engineering including, Farm Mechanization, Food and Agricultural Processing, Soil and Water Conservation Engineering and Renewable Energy Technology and also to provide scientific basis for enhancing and sustaining productivity in the farming sectors with the modern and advanced agricultural technologies. At present, the Department offers different courses viz. Farm Power and Machinery, Protected Cultivation and Postharvest Technology, Fundamentals of Soil and Water Conservation Engineering, Renewable Energy, Principles of Food Science and Nutrition, Agricultural Waste Management at undergraduate level in Agricultural Sciences. The Department also offers Ph.D degree programme in Agricultural Engineering disciplines. There are seven students continuing Ph.D. degree in the Department. Major research areas are Precision agriculture application, climate change impact on forest biomass, Runoff modeling, Food Process Engineering, Food Technology, etc. We have 4 sanctioned faculty members (1 vacant) and three staffs in the Department. Being a new Department, there is enormous requirement of infrastructure and equipments, including laboratory, classrooms and Departmental Building.
