Department of Agronomy
The activities of the Department comprise mainly of teaching, research and extension work. The Department offers teaching programme both in undergraduate and post-graduate level. The Department started its post graduate courses in M.Sc.(Ag) in Agronomy since 1977. Department of Agronomy emerged as individual department from 1st October, 2016 from a amalgamated department of ASEPAN (Agronomy, Soil Science, Agricultural Engineering, Plant Physiology & Animal Science). Besides teaching and research activities, the teachers and students are involved in extension activities like farmers -scientist meet, farmers training, women training programme, All India Radio and TV programme for knowledge dissemination to the farmers. Recommendations are made from the findings of the investigations carried out by the Department for farmers’ adoption in crop cultivation, water management, weed management, soil and fertility management, agro-techniques for improving crop quality and productivity and post harvest processing of field crops. Extensive RAWE programme is offered to the UG students.
